So it is that time of year again when Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF) takes over MIA park. As a bit of a foodie this is one of my favourite events in Doha and although I sadly won’t be in town this year, I wanted to share my love for this extravaganza and encourage others to go and eat what they can on my behalf.
It is a great day / evening out for family and friends with loads going on and a brilliant buzz. There are a variety of excellent food stalls dotted all over the park and there is honestly something for everyone. As well independent restaurants, all the main hotels pitch up and celebrate their own culinary delights with small taster dishes and most dishes start from around 25QR – plus the smaller portions allow you to taste quite a few different places.
On top of this, each year they collaborate with a different nationality, last being Brazil and this year it will be Turkey. So expect to see some great performances and entertainment from that region. In addition to all this, they have a few special events happening each day which you can also book such as live cooking lessons, an afternoon tea cruise on a Dhow boat, a BBQ donut and my favourite form last year ‘Dinner in the Sky’.
Last year we booked into the ‘Dinner in the Sky’ experience and if you are planning on going over the next few days it is a must! It costs around 500QR but it is well worth it. You are strapped in to seats like a racing car and suspended up in the air overlooking MIA and the Doha skyline, whilst a fantastic chef cooks up a delicious 3 course meal in front of your eyes. A good time to book is around 5.30/6pm so you can watch he sun go down and the city lights ignite whilst ‘floating’ in the air. Even our friend Coyes who is afraid of heights really enjoyed the whole experience.
OPENING – from Wednesday, March 25 until Saturday, March 28, the venue will be open from 1pm to 10:30pm.
If you do go to the festival let me know your thoughts…
Anyway good day to you all from the USA!
Adieu, Adieu…. Stormy
