This is the second time I have been to Astor Grill at the St Regis, Doha. The previous occasion was for Charlotte’s birthday a year earlier, and so was roughly a year ago. Since then they have a new head chef which has changed several items since then though


Astor Grill Main Menu consists of Grilled section, Burgers, Daily Special and a selection of various appetisers and deserts. The choice is not huge however can cater for most peoples dietary or personal preferences.

We were introduced to the Chef, Ramasawmy Jayada, unfortunately under not great circumstances, as the BBQ Ribs I had contained little meat and was predominately all fat, and I felt was not very reflective of the 150 QAR price tag for the dish.

Additionally Charlotte’s medium rare Tuna Burger was on the cold side.

They replaced these items immediately when they were informed and the second round was much better and was certainly worth the price. The sides were very good, the mac and cheese as the side order was exceptional! The spinach and cream for me had too much cream and not enough spinach but the taste was once again very good.

In addition to this the chef very kindly offered us a free desert each, which we duly took him up on, and we chose  the cheese cake and a mint chocolate desert. The cheesecake  has replaced their famous cigar desert (which is no longer available, unfortunately though I do hope they bring it back because it was so unique and delightful) but the cheesecake was good.



Although am not a fan of chocolate deserts, so its not fair for me to judge this one,  the second desert was presented really well and though I could only have a few spoonfuls as it was very rich, it was super tasty.

The restaurant is designed in a a very cool manner, quite sleek and doesn’t feel like your in a hotel when you are eating there. They also a ‘chef’s table’ available which we be great for a special event or celebration.

The Staff were excellent throughout the meal, very friendly and welcoming and even without the Entertainer the meal represented good value for a high end dinning option in Doha.
